Last year I applied to my dream college, looking to be admitted as an English major with an emphasis in education. Well, I was accepted but originally as an undeclared student. The English program was full. Two days ago I met with my adviser who, after seeing my ACT scores, cumulative GPA and meeting me in person decided to pull a few strings. Guess who’s now an English major? That’s right. Yours truly is now officially on the path to become an English teacher!

I will be taking a summer class once I obtain my Associate’s degree, then continuing on to earn my Bachelor’s. I’m moving out of my parent’s house as well, but I’m not quite celebrating that yet. We’ll have to see how well I fend for myself before I start cheering.

Chances are I won’t have a lot of time to work on my writing in the near future. I’m looking at possible scholarships, applying for jobs near my soon-to-be new home, getting all of my transcripts and paperwork in order, and still trying to keep up on my homework. And there’s a social life in there… Somewhere. I think. I might have lost that somewhere in between the apartment lease and the basic skills test.

  3. Congratulations girl! I’m so happy for you. I know how you feel…sometimes getting into school can be a struggle, but the payoffs are worth it! U can do it! (like the guy from Waterboy says)

    • Haha! I LOVE the Waterboy!

And thanks for the support. I’ve heard the program’s tough, but I’m ready for this. I still believe that everything happens for a reason and that a positive attitude can make a huge difference. This situation just strengthens that belief and I know that this is the path that’s meant for me. 😀 I’m going to enjoy traveling it.

  4. happy for you.
